Challenge

Every year Health and Fitness Magazine run a Shape-Up Challenge to help its mostly female audience achieve their New Year goals. In order to engage their audience more deeply, gain real insight into their lifestyles and provide a value-add, the magazine wanted the Shape-Up Challenge to be accompanied with an online service.

Solution

Using the Redbox Social Platform a completely unique and branded solution was configured and launched within 8 weeks. The service was promoted in the magazine and every reader who signed up was given a choice of three health programmes, all designed by the magazine's fitness experts. The user personalised the programme to their particular preferences and then was able to interactively see and record every fitness session over the 12 week period, with full video explanations of how to perform all the exercises. . Social modules were included to enable the community to share experiences, find fitness events and track their friends' progress, and articles and online advice were provided to support the readers through the programme.

Result

An impressive 11% of the magazine's readership signed up for the online service. As well demonstrating the value that online could add for their readership, the information gathered gave the editorial team a much more accurate picture of their readership – enabling them to obtain key insights into their audience's age profile, health concerns and lifestyle.
